If you follow me (@barebeautyblog) or True Botanicals (@truebotanicals) on Instagram, you probably noticed that we hosted an evening of wellness here in Charleston on October 19th for some local bloggers, influencers and tastemakers. It was such a special, high-vibe night, and I’m excited to tell you all about it.
Hillary Peterson, founder of True Botanicals, wanted to visit a few dynamic southern cities to connect with like-minded movers and shakers. In a span of 4 days, she visited Austin, Nashville and Charleston, hosting events in each town with a loyal, cheerleading co-host (such as yours truly).
We hosted our event at The historic Dewberry Hotel in downtown Charleston (which has been designed to meet LEED certification, by the way). Their beautiful rooftop Rivers Room and Citrus Club has magical light, and the most incredible views of the city. If you are ever invited to an event there at the golden hour, don’t miss it.
We kicked off the evening with a sublime guided meditation by Katie Borges, a local yoga teacher who is an absolute ray of light. I felt like I was floating by the time it came to an end.
Hillary and I discussed the experiences that led each of us to thoughtful, nontoxic living and clean beauty. (Hillary is a melanoma and breast cancer survivor; I was on a quest to become a mother.) We also discussed what makes True Botanicals different from many other clean beauty brands (very sophisticated science blended with the best quality botanicals on earth). And, of course, I waxed poetic on how True Botanicals completely transformed my skin when nothing else, natural or otherwise, would resolve my painful cystic acne that I fought for 2.5 years. I even got a little teary telling that story – it was like an infomercial, except this is real!
Lily Peterson (no relation to Hillary!) of Flowershop Charleston then led all of us in a botanical wreath making workshop while we drank, nibbled, and gabbed. The room smelled beautiful, the wreaths were lovely, and the vibes and connections made that night were so high and so genuine. I am so grateful to have been a part of it.
True Botanicals has some exciting new launches coming our way, so stay tuned. And, for those of you asking if there are any sales or promotions – it’s coming! 🙂
