Black Clay for Beauty

It’s no secret that ever since I went off birth control I’ve struggled with hormonal breakouts (WTF?  I am 32!  Pimples?  So embarrassing!)  I promised you that I would let you in on the products that deliver clear skin.  Truly effective acne-fighting products can be difficult to come by in the world of Green Beauty; I’ve struggled to find a cleanser that both fully removes my makeup and prevents breakouts – without stripping my skin.  Enter: Osmia Organics.

I’m not usually a bar-soap-kinda-gal, but Sarah Villafranco, the founder of Osmia Organics, assured me that her best seller would make a difference; all I had to do was commit.  After reading all the reviews (more like love letters) on Osmia Organics’ site, it sounded like their Black Clay Facial Soap has proven to be a godsend for those with perioral dermatitis and/or acne and I decided to give it a try.

Science: The Black Clay Facial Soap contains Australian black clay (which is 89% iron oxide) and Dead Sea mud (the most protein and mineral rich mud in the world).  These ingredients draw water to the skin, causing a “plumping” effect.  The minerals are also somewhat granular, so they act as a gentle exfoliant.  Antibacterial coconut milk provides a nice fatty, lather that binds to dirt, oil and makeup and rinses clean.  Organic almond, avocado and castor bean oils won’t overdry the skin like other bar soaps.  Sounds pretty perfect, right?

I’ve been using the Black Clay Facial Soap for over a month, and I’ve seen a real difference.  I’m experiencing less clogged pores and my skin looks… brighter?!  It’s difficult to put into words, but it’s working and I am reordering it.  Cost: $24 for 2.25 oz.  Purchase it here.
