My Winter Face, 2016

Happy Thursday!  A few of you have been asking for my “Winter Face”.  We change our wardrobes seasonally, and we should really do the same with our cosmetics.  Different formulas work best during different times of the year, and changing up our go-to colors seasonally does wonders for perking up our complexions.  I usually gravitate towards bronzes, browns and golds, but in the dead of winter, I find that they leave my looking a bit drab.  I’ve been experimenting with soft pinks and cool purples, and I find they’ve really brightened up my look.  Hopefully, they’ll perk you up, too!

Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation in Just Sheer: I often wonder what I did before I started using this foundation.  In the past, I always used a little concealer and tinted mineral powder as foundation; cream and liquid foundations just turned me off.  The ones that had good coverage didn’t blend into my skin – they looked and felt like a mask.  The ones that felt good and let my skin shine through didn’t hide my discoloration or hyperpigmentation.  Kjaer Weis Cream Foundation is quite honestly a miracle product.  I don’t look like I’m wearing makeup, even when I’m wearing a full face of it.  This formula melts into skin, so it looks like skin.  It doesn’t crease, it covers acne scars, sunspots and redness, and it wears all day and into the night.  If you have dry skin, or like a dewier look, you definitely don’t need setting powder (I dust a little on my t-zone since I have oily skin).  I’m telling you, you NEED this stuff in your life.  Also, the packaging is vanity-worthy – and refillable.

Kjaer Weis Cream Blush in Happy: It ain’t called Happy for nothin’, folks.  I’m in love with this blush.  I know that you’re probably thinking “that’s way to bright/bold for me”, but It actually looks so natural and rosy on the skin.  A little goes a long way, so I just use a teeny bit, but because the formula is buildable, women with darker skin can definitely rock this shade in full force.  The formula is very similar to Kjaer Weis’ cream foundation.  It’s so smooth, and just melts right in; it looks incredible natural.

Kjaer Weis Eye Shadow in Cloud Nine, Charmed and Wisdom: I’ve been wearing these shades for years now, and I’m still just as excited about them today.  I personally think that Kirsten of Kjaer Weis is a master colorist.  She doesn’t offer 100 different eyeshadow colors – she doesn’t need to.  Her shades are versatile and buildable and work on all skin tones.  I use Charmed all over the lid, Wisdom in the crease and layered over my eyeliner for staying power, and Cloud Nine on my brow bone and around the inner-corners of my eyes.  The formula wears beautifully, and does not crease.

W3LL PEOPLE Hypnotist Eyeliner in Plum: This is a new favorite of mine.  The name Plum is a little misleading – this is more of a cool, midnight-violet.  It’s a softer alternative to black eyeliner, and it really brightens the white of the eyes.  The formula glides right on, but doesn’t smear or fade.  W3LL PEOPLE’s Hypnotist Eyeliner has long been a favorite, and I can’t stop reaching for this new color.

W3LL PEOPLE Bio Brightening Powder: If you like Laura Mercier’s Secret Brightening Powder, you will love W3LL PEOPLE’s Clean version.  It’s great at diffusing under-eye circles; I use it all around my eye-area to make myself look more awake.  You can also use it all over the face alone, or on top of foundation as a glow-getting setting powder.

W3LL PEOPLE Bio Bronzer Stick: Cream bronzers can be tricky to use, at least for me.  Applying them with a heavy hand can lead to an over-contoured face – not cute.  However, I love the consistency and color of this one.  I just tap it into the hollows of my cheeks, and a little on my nose.  It warms up my face just enough.

W3LL PEOPLE Bio Extreme Lip Gloss in Nude Rose: I haven’t found a lipgloss that I love more than W3LL PEOPLE’S.  Not too sticky, thick or pigmented, this gloss provides a sheer wash of color and serious moisture.  I also love the tingly goodness of the botanical complex of star anise, wintergreen and spearmint.

NOT SHOWN:

RMS Beauty “Un” Cover-up in 22: I still love this product best for under-eye circles.  It is the only concealer I’ve found so far that acts like skincare and doesn’t over-dry the eye area.  I dust some of the W3LL PEOPLE Bio Brightening Powder on top to set it.  Using a chemical-laden, overly-drying concealer under your eyes is not doing that delicate skin any favors.  We’ve got to protect and preserve this skin the best that we can!

RMS Beauty Living Luminizer: Holy. Grail. Illuminator.  Again, this is makeup that acts like skincare.  I tap it on my cheekbones, brow bones and the inner corners of my eyes.  It fakes beautiful bone structure and a good night’s sleep like no other.

Lily Lolo Black Vegan Mascara: This is my favorite Clean mascara, period.  It’s the only one that doesn’t smudge or flake, even through a workout.  This formula lengthens, volumizes and lasts!

I hope that helps!  Also, I’ve been wondering if you all want some makeup tutorial posts.  I’m not a professional makeup artist by any means, but I do have a few tricks up my sleeve.  What do you think?
