Mama Mondays: Nontoxic Baby Registry, Part II

Bathtime can feel like a chore at the end of a long, hard day.  I try to do it with intention, especially when baby is small.  Using products I love and believe in makes it more of a relaxing wind-down ritual for both of us.  Here are a few products I always recommend to friends when creating their baby registry.

  1. The NoseFrida has saved us from using antibiotics so many times.  It far surpasses the effectiveness of a regular bulb syringe when it comes to pulling mucus out of the nose.  At first, it seemed so gross, but it gives me a weird sense of satisfaction to get that snot out and help my babe breathe more easily.
  2. The Boon Naked Collapsible Tub has two positions and works so well for both newborns and toddlers.  We loved ours and I recently unpacked it for our next babe’s arrival.  It’s also worth noting that this tub is BPA, PVC, and Phthalate-Free and collapses into nothing, which makes storage a breeze.
  3. I have been singing the praises of Weleda’s Calendula Cream Bath and Calendula Baby Body Lotion for more than 3 years.  The cream bath doesn’t lather, which I think is so important for newborns.  It keeps their delicate skin moisturized and free from irritation.  The calendula lotion is extremely gentle and totally clean.  Calendula knocks out irritation and sensitivity like no other ingredient.  It is so calming and soothing to baby’s skin – I used these products exclusively on Annabel for about six months.
  4. The Ubbi Diaper Pail is the best.  Period.  Its construction is solid and sturdy, and it LOCKS in odor.  Unlike many other diaper pails, I love that you can use any trash bag or cloth liner, making it an eco-conscious sanity-saver.  It also has a childproof lock, which I promise comes in handy!
  5. I love Aden & Anais hooded towels and washcloths.  (Full disclosure: they are not organic.)  They are super-absorbent, and get softer and softer with each wash, and the hood keeps baby’s head warm.
  6. Earth Mama Angel Baby Bottom Balm is my favorite for infancy – it’s antibacterial, but so gentle and great for preventing diaper rash, and great for soothing thrush, itchy bug bites, scrapes, chicken pox, minor rashes, and burns.  The salve-like consistency creates the perfect barrier to keep moisture from irritating baby’s delicate skin.
  7. Zoe Organics Breathe Balm is a must-have.  It’s basically the natural, clean, child-friendly version of Vicks Vapo-Rub.  Our whole family loves the immediate relief it provides.
  8. Munchkin Arm & Hammer Disposable Changing Pads are a lifesaver.  I’m not usually one for disposable items, but when it comes to changing pad liners, I make an exception.  These are biodegradable, leak-proof, and generously sized, and they are great for travel.
