Finally! Clean “Purple” Haircare

Clean Beauty has covered a lot of ground in the 5+ years I’ve been testing products, but one thing I’ve really missed is “purple shampoo”.  In my former life, I used a purple-hued color-toning shampoo and conditioner from John Frieda that worked really well; if my color was looking brassy/dull/faded, I could use it for a week and really bring my highlights back to life.  After five years of waiting, I finally have the clean answer to that former favorite.

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know my favorite, guaranteed-good-hair-day products are Rahua Voluminous Shampoo and Voluminous Conditioner.  I use them a few times a week when I need my hair to look its best (date night, girls night, a selfie-shoot, you get it).  Also, full disclosure: I get double-process highlights every six weeks, and no, it’s not at all nontoxic; it’s my ONE “dirty indulgence” and I’m not sorry.  Because my fine hair is highlighted, my ends get dry and tend to split, so I can’t use my beloved Rahua Voluminous products every time I wash and dry.  I’m always looking for a “weekday” shampoo and conditioner that moisturize without making me look like I fried a chicken in my hair.  And wouldn’t it be nice if they also preserved my color?

Enter: Rahua Color-Full Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hair Mask.  They. Are. Amazing.  I’ve been using them for seven weeks, and I am so impressed.  (I use the shampoo and conditioner about 3 times per week, and the mask once a week.)  They moisturize just enough, they impart shine and body, and my color (which I had done 4 weeks ago) looks better and brighter and less brassy than it usually does at this point.  The Color-Full collection balances tones on all shades of colored hair by blending natural mineral pigments along with a cocktail of plant-based oils.  Note: the ingredients in the Color-Full products are not quite as squeaky-clean as the rest of the Rahua line, but they are nowhere near conventional shampoos and conditioners.  Always do your own research, and set standards that make you feel comfortable.  In my opinion, clean beauty is not about perfection, it’s about being aware of environmental toxins and making decisions for you and your family that you can live with and maintain.
